Video Poker History
Given the fact that traditionally the only way to enjoy a game of poker was to get multiple people together, using video poker as a convenient means to a poker game without the necessity for other people was a natural progression. But it was not until the development of cheap video electronics that it became economically feasible to have video poker terminals in a casino. Now at Caribbean Gold Casino, you can not only get the ease and convenience of a video poker terminal, but you can get it in your very own home.
Video poker terminals first started to appear in the mid-1970s, the same time as the first personal computers were produced. When they were first released to the public, the first video poker machines were about the size of a Volkswagen, and the graphics and design consisted of nothing more than simple outlines of cards with the suit literally "S P E L L E D" out in the center. But as the technology of video poker terminals improved, its popularity also grew. By the 1980's Video poker was firmly set in the fabric of the casino communities.
It is no coincidence that at the same time Las Vegas was pulling out of it's infamous slump in the seventies, Video Poker was spreading throughout all of the states. In fact, Video poker alone is reputed as being the sole reason for Las Vegas's economic turnaround. The idea of something new and advanced, with amazing graphics and sound, was just what the people of the decade needed to get them out of their houses and into the casinos. The easy to use nature of the video poker terminal much less intimidating than going to a casino and walking up to a live poker table. No longer did you have to worry about what people thought of you if you fell out early. And it didn't matter if you didn't understand the lingo, or the etiquette of sitting at a formal poker game, or the subtle signals used to talk to the dealer. With video poker, you could walk into a casino sit down and play at your own pace. It gave people the ability to take a break whenever they wanted, with no pressure, and it didn't matter if you were a nubile beginner or a seasoned expert. As a result, video poker became increasingly popular throughout the 1980s, and quickly started to fill the gaming floors of casinos, not only in America, but all over the globe! In Europe as well, video poker bloomed into a full fledged gaming trend.
Currently video poker has risen to become a mainstay of the gaming world, populating casinos around the world. Residents of the southern states have become especially fond of the many casinos outside the hustle and bustle of Las Vegas that host the games. The fact is, there are so many variations of video poker available that you could play a different game every day for the next thousand years and never have to play the same game twice.
The latest brand of video poker games are the Multi-Hand Video Poker Games, where the player starts with a base hand of five cards, and each additional hand played draws from a different set of cards with the base hand removed.

How to Play Caribbean Gold Video Poker
Video poker works similar to regular poker in the way that you are using cards to construct hands which have a certain value. The difference is that instead of having to beat another player, the hands are linked to payout values. When you are able to make certain hands you are paid the amount listed for that hand in the paytable.
When playing any Video Poker game at Caribbean Gold Casino decide on the coin size that you wish to play with by clicking on the COIN buttons. Once you have done this, you may now choose how many coins you wish to bet by clicking on the column on the paytable.
Press the DEAL button and your first five cards will be dealt. Any viable cards in your first hand are automatically held and highlighted for you. Draw your next hand of cards. The cards you have not held will be removed and replaced with fresh cards from the deck.
If you win money you may press the COLLECT button to receive your payout, but if you wish you may also DOUBLE your bet. The cards will be removed from the screen and a further five cards will replace them. You must choose a card and if it has a rank greater than that of the dealer's card, you will win an amount double that of your original payout.
If you win, you may either DOUBLE again or COLLECT your winnings.
Words of Wisdom

Ok, I know that playing Video poker isn't exactly rocket science. After all Video poker is the preferred way for rookies and beginners to hone their poker skills. But no matter how skilled you are in the game of poker, when it comes to "VIDEO" poker you should always be sure to check the paytable of the game before you start playing. Even in the same casino, the payout structure of a game can vary widely, and if you're not careful, you might find yourself totally miscalculating your strategy. Remember the paytable of the video poker game you played last could be totally different from the game that you're playing now, so it pays to pay attention to the paytables. I have made the mistake before of not checking the payables of a game prior to playing and it cost me dearly. Since then, no matter how anxious I am to start playing a new video poker game, I make it a rule to always check the paytable of the games before I start playing. You should make it a rule too; you won't be disappointed.
